<rant>So I’m online looking for some ideas for gifts to buy my girlfriend for christmas, you know the usual but there’s one thing stopping me. All the major retailers decide to take their website’s down at this time of night for maintenance.
WTF. The internet never sleeps the person who’s running the show should know that. The only time I ever want to look for stuff online is in the middle of the night and this isn’t making it any easier for me. The thing that gets me is that the website works fine when I start, then as soon as I find something I’m interested in “sorry this website is down for maintenance. The only plus side is that curry’s give you a promo code for £5 off any online order, not that I’d use it but its the sentiment that counts.
Anyway, rant over. Nothing to see here, move along.</rant>
Yakuake is a Quake-style terminal for KDE. Linux format touts it as the next generation of Konsole. I think it’s just cool. Yakuake is a terminal window that magically scrolls down smoothly from the top border of your screen when you press a set key combination.

Totally forgot how many cool bands have appeared in Smallville. In the last episode I watched, Season 2’s Ryan VonRay play at his party. Other cool bands that have appeared in Smallville are Remy Zero, The All-American Rejects and my favourite band ever, Lifehouse.
Just a quick tip for anyone who like me can’t be bothered typing sudo before every command that needs to be run as root. There are two three ways to turn any terminal into a root terminal:
sudo -s
and
sudo su
Edit: you can also use:
sudo bash
and there you have it.
