Tonight we rented Little Miss Sunshine as it sounded pretty good. I must admit I was a bit shocked at how funny it actually was. There are some priceless moments. Everything from the Grandpa snorting heroin to an 8 year old doing a striptease.
The story was heartwarming in places and extremely stupid in others. Some parts had you going “wtf, how????!???” and others laughing your head off.
I’m still not exactly sure after watching it what the film was supposed to be about but from what I gather it’s all about the attempt to get the little girl, Olive, to a beauty pageant and dealing with the hilarious, if not stupid, incidents that happen along the way. If the heroin snorting grandpa isn’t enough, there’s the teenager who won’t speak, the dad who’s a bit obsessive, the gay uncle who tried to kill himself and the gentle kind mother trying to hold the whole band together.
Not sure if this film is for everyone but my girlfriend and I have about as different taste in films as it gets and we both foud it amusing. Not the best film I’ve ever watched but worth spending an hour or so on.
