Lead Sails Paper Anchor

Continuing on the music front, the one album I keep playing over and over again is Atreyu’s Lead Sails Paper Anchor. Atreyu!

While I was a fan of some of Atreyu’s previous offerings, such as The Remembrance Ballad, I wasn’t a big fan of all the screaming etc. The guitars were amazing, really powerful and the parts where there was no screaming, only normal singing, are amazing.

So I was pleased when I heard Lead Sails Paper Anchor for the first time. Atreyu for the large part have ditched the screaming and went with more singing. I read in a review somewhere online that the lead singer was sick of screaming and just wanted to sing. Good move. The guy has a good voice, especially for this kind of music. I’d say it was more alternative rock than metal and they sound a lot better for it.

Some of the notable tracks on the album are Honour, Becoming The Bull, No One Cares and Lead Sails (And A Paper Anchor) My favorite track from the album has to be #10, Blow. It’s a crazy mix of styles with a catchy chorus and good guitar riffs. I can’t seem to get this track from my head. It’s such a good song to drive to.

If your not a big fan of heavy metal screaming then maybe Atreyu’s previous offerings aren’t any use to you but I’d definetely recommend Lead Sails Paper Anchor to anyone.
