Meant to write about this ages ago, I found this cool little laptop that ASUS plan to market, the ASUS Eee PC. I have no idea what the specs will be, I’d imagine they’d not be super but since it seems to be running a Linux distribution (again not sure exactly which one it is but I’m pretty sure its linux)
It’s a very small laptop designed primarily for internet use and from the flashy presentation it seems to be aimed at the new to pc market, which considering it has Linux on it is a good thing. I hope that the distribution they use is tweaked to be more like Mac OSX and runs out of the box, although Linux is getting better at supporting obscure hardware. Also from the picture and website it looks like it has an integrated webcam.
Here’s a picture of the Eee PC 701:

The laptop is expected to come in at $200 dollars in the good old US of A, which is good news for us here in the UK since currently thats only about £100. Cheap as chips for such a nice looking laptop. Would be nice for uni, not having to move this heavy one around.
I’ll be actively looking out for more news on the Eee PC.
